Frequently Asked Questions

How are you all handling classes and covid?

We have modified our program during this period to insert more distancing, limit contact and implement sanitizing measures.

  • We have reduced the overall class size to a maximum of 15 students.

  • Students will be 3 to a car with an instructor.

  • Each car has hand sanitizer; we have face masks available however are not requiring them.

  • Windows open when possible.

At DriveStrong, we put the students’ safety at the top of the list of priorities. Please reach out with any questions you may have during these challenging times.

What programs does DriveStrong offer?

The Essentials Program is our core driving program for students that is designed to teach life-saving skills. We want to instill in our students the confidence needed to handle real-world situations; it isn’t a matter of if it happens, it’s when it happens. The Essentials Program gives students driving time in a condensed, fast-paced environment that keeps them engaged and involved through the entire class.

We will offer classes at two times. From 9:00 - 12:30 and 1:00-4:30.

The Advanced Program takes the skills taught in the Essentials Program to the next level. This 3-hour class should be taken at least 3 months after taking the Essentials Program.

We will offer classes at two times. From 9:00 - 12:30 and 1:00-4:30.

What time should we arrive?

Registration opens at 30 minutes prior to the start of your program.

What is your policy on minors visiting AMP and what documents will we need?

All minors (AGED 17 AND UNDER) are required to either have a parent or legal guardian with them at all times or provide a notarized Minor Waiver and Assumption of Risk form, signed by both the minor and their parent/guardian. Even with a notarized waiver, the minor must still be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 while on the property.

Before entering Atlanta Motorsports Park, the notarized forms must be presented to security staff at the front gate. A reminder of this policy is included in event confirmation emails for all upcoming classes.

What is the curriculum for the program?

We put our students behind the wheel to experience a wide range of driving conditions in a safe, controlled environment. Our instructors are highly trained professionals that provide the students with constructive feedback on safety precautions and vehicle handling corrections. We equip our students with the skills they need to handle a real-world scenario on the road.

How much does it cost?

Our program is $335 per student.

Where are you located?

All programs are held at Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, GA.

What about inclement weather?

DriveStrong classes are run rain or shine; in the unlikely chance of close lightning/storms, we will take a break until the storms have passed. Also, when roads are icy, classes will be rescheduled.  Attendees will receive an email in the unlikely event of a reschedule with instructions on how classes can be rescheduled.

Is there a limit to the number of students per class?

The ratio of students to instructors is no more than 3:1, we’ve found that this gives each student optimal time behind the wheel and instruction.

Is there an age requirement or a pre-requisite for attending the class?

DriveStrong’s program is available to individuals of all ages from 15 and older. To obtain the most benefit from the program, students should have had their permit for a minimum of 6 months with a minimum of 25 hours of basic driving experience (behind the wheel) with a parent or guardian.

Does my parent need to attend the class with me?

All minors (AGED 17 AND UNDER) are required to either have a parent or legal guardian with them at all times or provide a notarized Minor Waiver and Assumption of Risk form, signed by both the minor and their parent/guardian. Do I need a waiver signed by my parents?

Yes, all students must have the waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian to participate in our program. A copy of the AMP minor waiver may be downloaded here. If you are not the parent or legal guardian of the student please refer to the above question ‘What is your policy on minors visiting AMP and what documents will we need?’

Here you will find the waiver that needs to be notarized if someone other than the students parent or legal guardian will be bringing them on property. The minor must still be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18 while on the property

Do your programs fulfill the requirements for Joshua’s Law?

Our class does not fulfill the requirements for Joshua’s Law. However, Joshua’s Law is a great program and is required for all 16 year-olds applying for a Class D license. It focuses on extensive classroom instruction and normal driving situations. Our programs put students in emergency-type exercises on a closed course so they know what to do when things go wrong.

You can find a list of Joshua’s Law approved courses by going to this website: https://online.dds.ga.gov/ddsgeorgiagov/locations/certified-driver-training-schools.aspx
